Jawad'S STory

Born and raised in Paris, Jawad has lived two passions that were always meant to meet: football and language. He started playing at five years old and never stopped, from the park next to his home to years in French club football. Today he combines that football life with thousands of French lessons taught to students around the world. He helps professional footballers settle into a new club, a new city and a new way of life, on and off the pitch.

It started in the park

As a kid in Paris, Jawad spent every free moment in the park next to his home, playing games with his friends until it got dark. He always played on the right side of the attack. Like many kids of his generation, he idolised Cristiano Ronaldo, so he dribbled at every chance he got: taking players on, trying new tricks, and never passing when he thought he could beat one more defender.

From the park to the club

That love for the game took him into club football, where he played for many years, including at Franconville FC. Club life taught him what the park never could: how a dressing room works, how to listen to a coach, how to adapt to teammates, and how much communication matters when a team has to act as one

From the pitch to the classroom

Jawad became a French teacher and has taught at Columbia University and the Alliance Française de New York. On Preply he has given more than 3,200 lessons and ranks in the top 5% of French tutors. He has taught students from all over the world, from beginners to business professionals and exam candidates.

Four languages, one mission

French is his mother tongue. He also speaks English, communicates comfortably in Spanish, and speaks Moroccan Darija. Moving between languages and cultures is part of his everyday life, so he understands what a player feels when they arrive somewhere new.

What he does for players today

Jawad specialises in helping professional footballers integrate into their new club and country:

• Tactical communication with coaches, teammates and staff, so instructions are understood instantly on the pitch.

• Dressing-room and daily-life French, so players feel at home in the club and in the city.

• Media and press training, so players are ready for any interview or press conference.
